Welcome to the Town of
Valdese, a Waldensian settlement in the foothills of North Carolina.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
The
Valdese Police Department, in serving the people of Valdese, strives to reduce crime and provide a
safe town by:
1.
Recognizing that its goal is to help
people and provide assistance at every opportunity;
2.
Providing preventive, investigative, and
enforcement services;
3.
Increasing citizen satisfaction with
public safety;
4.
Obtaining community cooperation through
the Department's training, skills, and efforts; and
5.
Realizing that the Police Department
alone cannot control crime, but must act in cooperation with the community
and the rest of the Criminal Justice System.
In achieving these goals, the men and women of the Valdese Police
Department will conduct themselves in an ethical manner. They will always abide by
the following directives:
1.
Respect and protect the rights of citizens as determined by the
law;
2.
Treat citizens and their fellow employees courteously and with
the same amount of dignity which they expect to be treated themselves;
3.
Be examples of honesty and integrity in their professional and
personal lives, thereby earning the public trust;
4.
Perform their duties with the knowledge that protection of the
lives and property of all citizens is their primary duty; and
5.
Comply with the spirit and letter of the Code of Ethics.
URBAN ARCHERY INFORMATION
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission has given NC
municipalities the opportunity to participate in an Extended Urban
Archery Deer Season. With the deer populations growing in urban
areas, the number of motor vehicle accidents involving deer is also
on the rise. In an effort to control the deer population and to
mitigate accidents involving deer, the Urban Deer Season was
created. The season will run from January 14 to February 18, 2012.
The Town of Valdese is participating in the Urban
Archery Deer Season. Please note that the Town of Valdese does not
grant permission to hunt on anyone's property, does not allow
hunting on town owned property, and does not maintain a list of
property owners. Please refer to the NC Wildlife Resources
Commission website for hunting regulations at
www.ncwildlife.org.
The Department has twelve full time sworn
officers, ten reserve officers, and an administrative assistant. An
average of 7,500 service calls are received per year. The Department also
has special training in accident reconstruction, criminal investigation,
tactical weapons, public relations, and community policing.
